Charlotte County sits on the Gulf of Mexico, lays host to Charlotte Harbor which is fed by the Myakka and Peace River and is home to over 100 miles of coastline.
A true natural beauty, Charlotte County has multiple state parks and wildlife sanctuaries and is even nationally accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agency which according to Charlotte County Community Services has only been awarded to 184 agencies nationwide!
Recreational Activities
Our miles and miles of coastline means that residents enjoy white sand beaches, hunting for shells and shark teeth and maybe even get lucky enough to see the nesting sea turtles on the shore.
If you need a break from the beach you can enjoy Charlotte Counties waterways by boating or sport fishing off of one of the public piers. Even take an airboat ride up the Myakka River and get a glimpse of untouched, wild Florida. Charlotte Harbor has one of the most robust natural preserve estuaries in the state for bird watching.
Into sports? Take up a round of golf at one of the many golf courses in Charlotte County or visit the Charlotte Sports Park to catch a Stone Crabs baseball game or maybe even a Tampa Bay Rays spring training game.
Charlotte County also has a small art scene with a Visual Arts Center that hosts painting classes and gallery exhibits, two playhouses to catch a show and a pottery painting studio!
The nightlife in Charlotte County includes a comedy club with both improv and skit comedians and a variety of fun locally owned bars. A walk down the main street of Punta Gorda boasts a plethora of pubs, saloons and taverns to hop between. Punta Gorda- Home to a quaint farmers market every weekend this downtown has historic charm as well a walkable downtown shopping and restaurant scene.
Port Charlotte- A host to a large amount of businesses that range from medical to retail, this is the central hub of the county.
Boca Grande- White sand streets that walk you under ancient banyan trees and right onto the beach this island town is a picturesque dream.
Englewood- Make sure to take a walk down historic Dearborn Street in this beachside gem town and then hop over to Manasota Key Beach.
